SIDF 2024: DANCE DREAM DONATE
What
The Seattle International Dance Festival is a ten-day celebration of contemporary dance with over 125 local, national and international artists and 25 companies performing each year. The festival has presented artists from over 40 countries from Asia, the Middle East, South America, Africa, Australia, Europe and North America and is currently in it 19th edition in 2024.
Why
The Seattle International Dance Festival needs help to create a sustainable future. SIDF reaches diverse audiences, and through its passes, brings the cost per show for audiences to just $12. SIDF presents split bill evenings of two or more companies in each program, providing diverse perspectives and contexts helping develop a deeper cultural understanding and awareness in our community, as well as providing more opportunity for local and other artists. For those Seattleites unable to travel, due to cost or accessibility, SIDF provides the only direct, live contact with the many cultures the festival presents. SIDF supports diversity in our community and elsewhere, fostering Seattle artists growth every year, many of whom are BIPOC. Full funding of our $50,000 goal, will allow SIDF to create sustainability by:
- Raising artists fees
- Hiring a fundraising consultant
- Increasing publicity spending
- Strengthening organizational capacity
- Maintaining accessible ticket pricing
Support of this campaign will increase awareness about SIDF, support local artists, grow audiences for the festival, and create sustainability through increased capacity. We are here because of you, our audience. And we hope to continue to enrich our community with these benefits this year, and for years to come.
