to us
SIDF relies on grants, personal contributions, and corporate funding. Produced by Khambatta Dance Company, your gift supports SIDF in creating a deeper understanding and mutual appreciation of different cultures. It creates opportunities for local dance artists by placing their work in the context of national and international contemporaries. In addition to performances, SIDF invites the audience to take part in classes and interactive events indoors and outdoors, celebrating the joy of the moving body for all ages.
More than 35% of KDC/SIDF’s audience earns less than 65% of Seattle’s median wage. With your support SIDF provides innovative programming while keeping the festival highly accessible, maintaining ticket prices low, and making free tickets available to those who are economically disadvantaged.
SIDF presents a diversity of contemporary perspectives through dance including every dance form from Ballet, to Modern, to Jazz, to Hip Hop and more. Since its inception in 2006, SIDF has brought hundreds of dancers from over 35 countries to Seattle to perform alongside Seattle’s many outstanding artists and companies. Exposure to this rich cultural spectrum helps create greater understanding among all people, something that makes an international festival essential for our city.
Your support, especially during this challenging time, helps maintain the complicated organizational feat the festival requires. Much of this complexity, which make SIDF unique to Seattle, has become more costly due to recent events.
We value this mission deeply. We hope you will contribute to this unique vision bringing diverse cultures to our city and celebrating local dance.
